Use the Risk Assessment and Worksite Precautions to determine the level of risk of exposure to COVID-19. This is a tool for you to identify what risks you need to eliminate or minimize and steps you can take to protect workers.
Yellowknife, NT (March 23, 2020) – The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) has developed a risk assessment tool to guide employers in determining if a worker can safely be on the worksite or not under the current direction of the Chief Public Health Officers.
The Office of the Chief Public Health Officer for the NWT has recommended that all travellers from outside of the territory self-isolate for 14 days. These efforts will contribute to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our territory.
WSCC offices are closed for in-person services effective March 19, 2020 until further notice and many of our employees are working from home to help to reduce the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19.
We will continue to deliver core services to workers and employers in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We do anticipate possible delays during this time. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) is making some changes to the services we provide to help employers and workers stay safe and to help reduce any possible transmission of COVID-19. All actions are being taken with the health and safety of all employers, workers, residents and our staff as our top priority.
For Employers:

For Claimants:

We know that employers have additional pressures managing the risks surrounding COVID-19. The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) made the decision today to extend all Employer Assessment Payments that were due on April 1. Your new due date for that payment is May 1, 2020.
At this time, all other payments are due as set out in existing payment plans with the WSCC.
We know that employers and workers in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories are concerned about the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
Employers have a responsibility to develop policies and procedures to protect their workers and to keep them informed. Employers should develop or review business continuity or emergency response plans, and prepare proactively for the possibility that COVID-19 could impact their workplace.
