The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) recognizes that workplace health and safety requires collaboration. For this reason, the WSCC enters into partnerships with stakeholders to promote the WSCC’s Vision, Mission, and Values and the organization’s strategic objectives in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

WSCC offers stakeholders the opportunity to participate and provide feedback in all areas of WSCC services, including policy creation, decision-making, and program development. We understand the importance of reaching out for a fresh perspective, and to listen to what YOU need. As a user of our resources and services, you have a meaningful perspective on the improvement of those services.

There are several ways that you can get involved:

The WSCC is responsible for administering the Workers Compensation Acts, Safety Acts, Explosives Use Acts and the Mine Health and Safety Acts. Governance Council policies provide guidance for the administration of the Acts.

Openness is one of our values and we strive to be clear and transparent in everything we do. All our plans and performance reports are available to stakeholders.

We strive to be accessible, clear, and transparent in everything we do, reflecting our value of Openness.

The WSCC is overseen by a seven-person Governance Council. The Governance Council is responsible for the conduct of business and management while maintaining the credibility and vitality of the WSCC. The Governance is comprised of individuals from Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, and represents the interests of workers, employers, and the general public. The members are appointed by the Northwest Territories Ministers responsible for the WSCC in consultation with the Nunavut Minister.

Our Vision:

Eliminate workplace diseases and injuries.

Our Mission:

We promote workplace health and safety while providing no-fault insurance to employers and care for injured workers.
