A video by Yellowknife high school students that encourages youth to be aware of workplace hazards has won first prize in the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission’s It’s Your Job territorial high school video contest.

The winning team includes students Madison James, Savannah Lane, Tim Herrera, and Briant Kotchea of École St. Patrick High School, in Yellowknife. Their video, “All Thanks to the WSCC”, won $1,000 with a matching prize of $1,000 for their school.

The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Judy Kainz in her new role at the WSCC as Director, Prevention Services.

Judy has over 30 years of experience working in occupational health and safety roles for a number of companies, including multinational manufacturing companies such as Kellogg’s and Parmalat, and Northern companies such as Qulliq Energy Corporation.

Judy joined the WSCC as the Chief Safety Officer in 2008. For the last eight years, she has worked with stakeholders to advance the Northern safety culture.
