Notice to Employers

10th Jul 2015

The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) was recently notified that unauthorized training providers are using aggressive sales tactics with misleading information about workplace training. These training providers have been contacting businesses indicating that their organization must take specific Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training to comply with the law.

The WSCC, or any WSCC authorized training providers, will never contact you using threatening or aggressive tactics to promote training. Employers have a choice when selecting a WHMIS education and training provider whose training suits their workplace.

Visit WHMIS.org or the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) website, CCOHS.ca, for information about WHMIS 2015, including links to resources and jurisdictional news. The CCOHS website also provides free WHMIS training for workers.

If you wish to file a complaint on the tactics of any company soliciting products and training services, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre 1-888-495-8501, phonebusters.com.
