Yellowknife, NT (February 22, 2018) – On February 20, 2018, Allen Services & Contracting Ltd. (“Allen Services”) appeared in the Territorial Court of the Northwest Territories in Inuvik. Allen Services had previously been convicted of an offence under the Safety Act for failing to ensure work was sufficiently and competently supervised, a violation of Section 16(1)(a) of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations.

The new Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (“Regulations”) came into force in the Northwest Territories in June 2015, and in Nunavut in March 2016. Over the period of time since they were first made law, employers and workers became more familiar with the Regulations.
