Today, the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) welcomes the appointment of Maia Lepage as the new Worker’s Advisor for the Northwest Territories & Nunavut.
Appointed by the Northwest Territories Minister Responsible for the WSCC, the Honourable Alfred Moses, Ms. Lepage begins her three-year term as an advocate for injured workers.
The Workers’ Advisor acts independently and impartially from the WSCC, providing a range of supports and assistance to injured workers and their family members, for example:
- Explaining the WSCC process and decisions;
- Helping clients communicate with the WSCC;
- Reviewing file evidence and explaining what has happened to-date or helping decide if more information is necessary to support their case;
- Helping prepare and present cases to all WSCC decision-making levels; and
- Helping to find other community services that might be of assistance.
Injured workers can find out more about the Workers’ Advisor online at workersadvisor.ca.
