This year, the average provisional assessment rate will be $2.10 per $100 assessable payroll. This provisional target rate is the rate employers would pay if there was only one rate for all employers, and is the rate the WSCC uses as a starting point when setting individual subclass rates.
The 2019 average provisional assessment rate puts the WSCC in a position to maintain the same level of assessment revenue as in 2017 and 2018. Subclass adjustments are being made to ensure fairness. Industries with increased claims cost experience are paying more to fund the system, while those with reduced costs are paying less.
