Yellowknife, NT/Iqaluit, NU (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) - The Governance Council of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) has announced the upcoming retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Hunt and the appointment of Harmeet Jagpal as the WSCC’s next President and CEO.
“On behalf of the Governance Council, I would like to thank Rick for his steady leadership and service to the WSCC,” said Jenni Bruce, Chair of the Governance Council. “His clear strategic focus has positioned the organization well for the future, while maintaining a strong commitment to the needs of workers and employers across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We congratulate Rick on his retirement and wish him and his family all the best.”
Harmeet Jagpal is currently Vice-President of Performance and Corporate Services with the WSCC and an established member of the organization’s senior leadership team. He brings over twenty years of experience and a strong understanding of the WSCC’s operations and mission.
During his career with the WSCC, he has held progressively senior leadership positions, including Vice-President of Corporate Services and Chief Information Officer, and Acting President and CEO.

Harmeet will begin a comprehensive transition period with Rick on October 1 and will formally assume the President and CEO role on January 15, 2027.
