WSCC OHS Safety App

Before I start I want to make full disclosure that I am a sitting board member of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). This organization is one of the leading agencies in Canada providing outstanding and mostly inexpensive or free safety information. I urge you to check out their website at We partnered with the CCOHS due to their expertise in building apps and their knowledge of safety.

You’ve asked for accessible safety resources, and here it is!

The WSCC is excited to announce the launch of the new and free WSCC OHS APP. The WSCC team partnered with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) to create a user friendly app for stakeholders in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Once a user has downloaded the app it can be used without internet or mobile data. The WSCC intentionally designed the app this way to ensure workers and employers in remote areas with limited or no internet would still be able to access important safety information.

Users will have 20 topic summaries, applicable legislation and valuable resources at their fingertips. Current topics include: Asbestos, PPE for Commercial Diving Operations, Confined Spaces, PPE for the Eyes and Face, Fall Protection, Foot PPE, Hand and Arm PPE, Hazard Assessments, Head PPE, Hearing PPE, High Visibility PPE, Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees, Supervisor Occupational Health and Safety Education, PPE Basics, Respiratory PPE, Return to Work, Thermal Conditions, Traffic Control Person, Working Alone, and Working with Lead.

The WSCC OHS APP will be updated twice a year with new summaries and resources, so make sure you update your app when prompted so you have the most recent information on hand. If you have any comments I would love to hear them. You can contact me directly by clicking on the blue box below. DG
