Exploring a Career in Safety: Meet the WSCC's Junior Safety Officers

We’ve heard it all before: safety doesn’t clock in, and it doesn’t punch out – it’s 24/7.

This is especially true for our junior safety officers. Along with their fellow safety officers, they are on the front lines every day, working directly with employers across the north to eliminate workplace diseases and injuries. But that’s not all – they also have to work towards obtaining their Occupational Health and Safety certificates at the same time.

In our second article submission to Aboriginal Business Quarterly (available now in the Winter 2019 issue), we profile two of our junior safety officers. I encourage you all to take a read and see why they choose to live and breathe safety every day.

I thank them for sharing their stories with us, and on the whole, am thankful to our safety officers for their continued dedication to workplace safety, 24/7.
